Giving Back: 2024 ADM Athletic Boosters Gala
Charitable giving is something I’m so grateful I get the chance to do. It’s especially sweet when it’s close to the heart AND close to home!
Adel has been home to me and the studio since 2020. I love that it’s also home to my sister and her family and kids. So, when I learned about this year’s Fundraising Gala for the ADM Athletic Boosters, I was more than happy to help— donating a Family Portrait Experience for the silent auction and accepting the invitation to photograph all the attendees, decked out in their black-tie attire. Yes! What a fun way to meet more locals and neighbors I’ve yet to meet and support my niece, nephew and local community...

Smashing Excuses: Why You Deserve a Boudoir Experience
Let’s talk about those sneaky excuses that tend to creep up whenever we think about stepping in front of the camera. Trust me, I know the feeling—I still get nervous sometimes, and I am often my own photographer. Even just today I admitted…

The poetry of new beginnings…
"In the flutter of eyelashes and the curl of tiny fingers lies the poetry of new beginnings."Recently, I stumbled upon this quote (author unknown), and it felt like the perfect way to describe the experience of being a new parent in those initial days with a newborn babe. Although my children are all teenagers now, I still vividly recall the awe I felt when I first saw my baby open his eyes, the softness of that crest of hair, freshly washed for the first time, and the astonishment that I was going to be able to take this baby home with me. I still laugh about that moment!
For most of the years I was having babies, I worked for another photographer specializing in newborn portraits. I was also a budding photographer myself. I'm fortunate to say that I have many beautiful photos of my kiddos from the early days – the sleep-deprived, can't-really-remember-what-day-it-is days…

Mother’s Day and Bittersweet Memories…
Motherhood is bittersweet. I recently came across a photo of my oldest from when he was about three years old. When he was feeling mischievous, his bottom lip would slide to the side and curl up over the corner of his mouth. He started making that expression when he was just a little baby, before he could even talk. He was adorable smiling back at me from this photo. I wanted to scoop him up, tickle him until he squealed, and nuzzle his little cheek. My sweet baby.
When did I last see him make that face? A year ago? Three? Maybe more… I’m so grateful to have that expression in print. The years go by so fast…

Embracing the Beauty of Age: Celebrating Women 40+
It’s no April Fools’ Day joke, my 40th birthday is just around the corner ;) I have spent the last five years reflecting on my journey to this milestone. Through self portraits, creative collaborations, travel adventures, new friendships, and a good amount of therapy, one thing I have come to understand is that the beauty of aging is something to be celebrated, particularly for women.
Over the past 13+ years as a photographer, I have had the privilege of creating portraits for my clients—capturing the wonder of pregnancy, the beautiful chaos of the toddler years, the excitement of a senior on the precipice of adulthood—so many moments worthy of being celebrated and remembered. This year I want to embark on a new special project close to my heart. I am extending an invitation to 40 remarkable women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond to join me for a custom portrait session in my studio…
